Textured Couture Crust Pumpkins will fit in with both Halloween and Thanksgiving Decor. I love to make pumpkins this time of year. I made these pumpkins with Arctic White & Angel Eyes Paint Couture, Brilliant White Metallic, Weathered Wood Glaze and German Glass Glitter.
After making these, I was inspired from some mini pumpkins I saw at Michaels
I love the texture and the colors! So, I thought of a way to create some.
Next I looked for a pumpkin around the studio. I found a dollar store pumpkin I had painted in a bright purple metallic paint, that would work.
I dipped into Couture Crust, an acrylic texturing plaster, an rubbed it all over my gloved hands.
Here comes the fun, better than finger painting, and the kids can do this too, because Couture Crust is water based and cleans up easily with soap and water!
Wrap your hands around the pumpkin and apply the Couture Crust, easy! It does not matter what color the pumpkin is, you can cover it with Couture Crust!
All covered up, now I let it dry.
Next, the paint colors. I chose Abundance, Spanish Sunrise and Vintage Flair Paint Couture to paint my pumpkin.
When you dry brush dip the tip of your brush into the paint. Then rub some paint off of the brush onto cardboard, this makes it a “dry brush”, now lightly apply to the raised crusty areas of the pumpkin, just a little highlight is all you need!
One more step, the stem. First I used Madagascar Mocha Paint Couture, but it was not dark enough, you can skip that step. I thought that Van Dyke Brown Glaze Couture would work better, so I brushed it on the stem.
I hope I inspired you! What will you make?
